I have lost the functional sight of my right eye through glaucoma. Some of the things I included were my own disabilities. What areas of my personality, background and physical appearance am I struggling to accept? I hope you can see the marvelous gift to the world you are with your unique history, experiences and personality also. I relate all these life experiences because it illustrates for me the validity of what Rick Warren says in this chapter. I was born to win! Yes, I was born to teach! When I was a stay at home Dad, I assisted in a group called MOPS- (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers ), and because I trained as a teacher of children with disabilities, I knew what skills to work on at the different ages. I tutored in Vacation Bible Schools, and I continue to mentor children on-line in the things of faith. In my adult years, I volunteered to work with youth as we constructed our own slot car machine and then raced them round the track. I began to show leadership in the church environment, becoming a Sunday school teacher at 15, and participating in a coffee shop ministry to teens at 18. Does a fish know why it swims and doesn’t fly? Does a cow know why it moos and doesn’t neigh? I don’t know really why I was motivated to work with them. I went into teaching because I loved kids.
